Amanda (Village of)

May 31 - 2nd Annual Memorial Day Parade at noon. Parade to honor Veterans, 1st responders. We welcome all participants in parade.



Bellefontaine

May 31 - Memorial Day Murph Community Workout, 210 W Columbus Ave, Bellefontaine at 0800 hours. We will take on the annual “Murph” workout. Although it may seem intimidating at first, this workout is meant to humble us as we remember those who gave all. It is written to be completed with a weighted vest, but all movements are able to be modified to any fitness level. It is also a perfect workout to partner up with a pal and take on the challenge. Doors will open around 7:45. Workout will begin around 8:15. Donations will be accepted and presented to the Vets to DC program.


Bellville

May 31 - Bellville Memorial Day Parade - American Legion Post 535. Cub Scout Family Pack 7126 - Bellville, Butler, Lucas Ohio will be joining our Charter Organization - American Legion Post 535, for the annual Memorial Day Parade. Parade starts at 11am, with line-up 10:30am at the Legion.



Blue Ash

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony 1130 hours at Blue Ash Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park. The City of Blue Ash invites you to the 69th annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 31, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at the Blue Ash Bicentennial Veteran’s Memorial in downtown Blue Ash. The parade has been canceled this year. Captain Steve Drefahl, US Navy (Retired) will serve as the keynote speaker (bio: https://www.blueash.com/news_detail_T2_R777.php). The Cincinnati Warbirds will perform a flyover, weather permitting. Masks are required at this event.



Canal Winchester

May 31 - Memorial Day Celebration at Union Grove Cemetery, 1000 hours. 400 Winchester Cemetery Rd, Canal Winchester. Bring lawn chairs.



Cardington

May 31 - Cardington Memorial Day Parade and Civil War Soldier’s Monument Rededication. Please join us in Cardington as we observe and honor Memorial Day and rededicate our monument after its full restoration. The parade will step off from the Legion Hall in Cardington at 1:00 and process to the cemetery for the ceremony. Retired Cardington-Lincoln Schools Superintendent Pat Drouhard will be the keynote speaker. The high school band will provide music.



Centerville

May 31 - Memorial Day Outdoor Mass. Our friends and neighbors at St. Charles Borromeo will be joining us here as St. Francis of Assisi for an outdoor Mass on Monday, May 31 at 9:00am. All Are invited to come and worship in community. The parish offices of St. Francis of Assisi will be closed May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.



Cincinnati

May 31 - Green Township Memorial Day Ceremony, 6303 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati. Join VFW Post 10380 and the Green Township Trustees for their annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Plaza in Veterans Park at 1400 hours.


May 31 - Memorial Day Walk, 10050 Woodlawn Blvd at 1900 hours. Let's put on your walking shoes and mask and join members from the Woodlawn and Wyoming communities as we light lanterns and candles in honor and remembrance of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Closing Remarks @ 10180 Woodlawn Blvd. The event will occur rain, shine, or cicadas.

Chillicothe

May 31 - Memorial Day Walking Tour of Chillicothe's Historic Grandview Cemetery. Meet at the Renick Enclosure in Grandview Cemetery at 0900 hours. After a short ceremony, Local historian and guide Kevin Coleman will give guidance on the graveyard that was there before the cemetery, the funerary architecture and symbolism in the monuments, the historic quarry at the rim, the history around the site, the geology of the location, and even what you see in the grand views. $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $15 for families (three or more family members). Pay "at the door" at the with cash or check. The practical limit on the tour is about 25 people as we walk to the eastern corner. Reservations are recommended. The tour begins near the Renick stone walls (two stars on the cemetery map that you can find on this FB page), ends near the cell tower (near no. 4 on the map)...and can be extended to the gazebo / bandstand (no. 6 on the map).



Colerain

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony at the Colerain Gateway Memorial. In honor of Memorial Day, Colerain Township officials will honor military veterans who lost their lives in the line of duty, those who were injured during their military service to our country, and to the employees of Colerain Township that lost their lives in the line of duty. Ceremony will be held at the corner of Colerain Avenue and Springdale Road at the Colerain Gateway Memorial.



Crooksville

May 31 - Memorial Day Celebration. Main Street. 7:30 am- 9:30 am - Army Breakfast, Masonic Lodge on Main Street. 9:30 am- Parade line up, top of Main Street, going out State (in front of East School, as normal) No particular order, just JUMP IN as you arrive. 10 am - Parade down Main Street to Buckeye St, ending at the Legion Post on Buckeye Street for light refreshments. Anyone can join in!! School groups! Ball teams! Your family!! Decorate whatever you have in the Red, White & Blue to walk/ride/drive and let's show some appreciation for our fallen service members and spread some patriotic joy in our little town.

Columbus

May 23-31 - NVMM Memorial Virtual Run, Walk, Ruck and Roll, register by May 15 to Receive Your Race Shirt and Bib Before May 23. Honor and always remember the service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms by joining together with friends and family to run, walk, ruck or roll in their memory. This family friendly event may be conducted at the time and location of your choosing, however, we would love to see you all out Memorial Day Weekend, May 23 - May 31. You can register for your choice of distances: 1-Mile, 5K or 10K. Shirts feature a blank section on the back to write in the name of the Veteran(s) you will always remember. Create a team and challenge others to run, walk, ruck or roll to remember.

May 28 - 31 - The Wall That Heals at the NVMM, at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, 300 W Broad St, Columbus. In honor of our brave service members who did not return home or receive a hero's welcome after their service and sacrifice in Vietnam, we are proud to host The Wall That Heals over Memorial Day Weekend. Built by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, The Wall That Heals is a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. that holds more than 58,000 names of service members who gave their lives as a result of the Vietnam War. This free outdoor exhibition will open to the public on May 28 and remain open 24-hours a day until May 31 at 2 p.m. In additional to The Wall, a Mobile Education Center will be onsite featuring digital photo displays of "Hometown Heroes," and educational displays about the Vietnam War. Volunteers are needed to help assemble The Wall on May 27, staff and watch over it during its time at the NVMM and disassemble The Wall on May 31. We welcome everyone to come out, experience this incredible exhibit, learn about the Vietnam War, honor our Veterans and help one another heal.


May 28-31 - Westerville Field of Heroes, annual Flag Display at the Westerville Sports Complex North Cleveland Ave. Walk through and drive-through options available again this year. A virtual/in person walk replaces the annual 5K. The 2021 Field of Heroes is providing a both a safe, socially distanced experience as well as continuing to offer a drive-through option. While crowd gathering activities (live concerts, ceremonies, etc.) are still not available due to the COVID pandemic, we are expanding to have flag and commemorative coin sales, a “Heroes Hike” race event with on-site and virtual options, virtual concerts and possible a socially distanced movie night as our educational component. If you choose to walk through the flags, we ask that you obey all social distancing rules as published by the Health Department. The flags are placed 6’ apart as an easy visual reminder for social distancing.


May 29 - Ride2NVMM, Motorcyclists are invited to prepare their bikes for a ride to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum on Saturday, May 29, as part of the Ride2NVMM. Details to come.


May 31 - Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum 300 W Broad St, Columbus. Keep the real meaning of Memorial Day top of mind by joining us here at the museum for our annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony. We will remember and pay homage to all of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms on the Rooftop Sanctuary. J.R. Martinez, a U.S. Army Veteran, burn survivor, actor, author and winner of Dancing with the Stars will speak. The ceremony will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube for those unable to join us at the museum.


May 31 - Memorial Day Field of Flags from 1100-1500 hours. This past year America – and, yes, the world – has lived through an extraordinary time. Facing immense challenges, our community came together and has come out the other side. Now we must celebrate life, but we need to also remember and honor those who are not. This Memorial Day we will come together. We will embrace each other. We will honor those no longer with us. Join us at the Abbey, Monday, May 31st from 11 am to 3 pm. Take a tour of the building and see the “new” restorations. Dayton

May 31 - Memorial Day 5K Fun Run, Dayton Carillon Historical Park, Carillon Blvd at 0800 hours. Tickets: www.daytontrackclub.com/event-details-registration/memorial-day-5k-fun-run. We're meeting to run (at least) a 5K in the morning on Memorial Day. This is a free, fun run for anyone to join. We'll meet along the bike path near Carillon Historical Park. This is not a race or timed, but we will have some door prizes for those that check-in to the group run.


Delaware (city of)

May 31 - A Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10 am at Oak Grove Cemetery, 334 S. Sandusky Street. The ceremony, organized by local Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1095, will include a flag presentation, speeches, the playing of “Taps,” and a rifle and cannon volley. The group asks attendees to please bring a lawn chair.



Fairfield Township

May 29 - Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, 2421 Princeton Rd, Fairfield Township, Ohio. We will be hosting our annual Memorial Day Ceremony this Friday evening at 6 PM. The ceremony is our way of kicking off the Memorial Day weekend here at Rose Hill Burial Park as well as honoring the fallen service members interred in our park. We will have a bugler to play Taps, a bagpiper to play Amazing Grace as well as other tunes, and the reading of all fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen and women, and Marines names aloud with details of there sacrifice as well as a brass bell rung for each name read. After the ceremony concludes, local boy scout, girl scout, and Heritage girls troops will be placing a flag at the grave of all known veterans in the park. The public is invited to attend this ceremony in person, or may view it online as we will be Facebook Living the event here on our Facebook page. The ceremony will take place at the flag ring located on our older Veteran Section, Section 7, in the front East side of the Burial Park. The park will be open with staff here from 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to answer questions, help families find their loved ones, and supply water to those in the park. Additionally, we do have flags erected at the graves of the fallen veterans with information as to their sacrifice throughout the park; we invite everyone to seek these out and read about these local heroes.



Fort Laurens Museum

May 31 - To honor those U.S. soldiers that died while in service to our country, Fort Laurens is holding a luminary ceremony. The fort's outline will be filled with luminaries that hold the names of fallen U.S. soldiers that have been given to us by the public. We will kick off the ceremony with a presentation on the history and importance of Memorial Day at 6:30 and conclude at 7:30 with the playing of Taps. Huber Heights

May 31 - The Huber Heights Military and Veterans Commission invites the community to join us in remembering and honoring all veterans. The event will take place on 5/31/2021 at 5:00 PM at Thomas Cloud Park, 4707 Brandt Pk.



Lockbourne

May 31 - Memorial Day Parade and Celebration, 95 Landis St, Lockbourne at noon. Join us this Memorial Day to Honor our Veterans! Parade Starts at noon, followed by a special ceremony to honor veterans and to recognize The Warrior Legacy: Generations of Service in the Armed Forces.



Loveland

May 31 - The City of Loveland Memorial Day program will start with a parade at 9 a.m. from the Loveland Elementary School, 600 Loveland Madeira Road, to the Loveland Veterans’ Memorial. If you or your organization would like to be in the parade, registration is still open. Immediately following the parade, a ceremony will be held at the Loveland Veterans’ Memorial, located at the intersection of West Loveland Avenue and Riverside Drive. The ceremony will feature a speech from COL. Brad Wenstrup, U.S. Representative of Ohio’s 2nd congressional district. After the ceremony, participants are invited to attend a dedication of a WWII Honor Roll Monument at the Loveland Museum Center, 201 Riverside Drive. The monument was constructed in 1944 as an “Honor Roll” to recognize local men and women serving in World War II. It served as a central location where family members could leave updates on where their loved ones were serving and how they were doing. Members of the Loveland Historical Society and John Hill Construction partnered to restore the monument. Magnolia

May 31 - Memorial Day 2021. Join us to honor those who served and sacrificed for our Nation. The parade will form at the Funeral Home at around 10:40am, begin at approximately 10:50am, and march to the Magnolia Cemetery for a ceremony beginning around 11:00am.



Mansfield

May 31 - Doughboy Ceremony on the Square at 0900, Memorial Day Parade at 1030 (Park Ave, to the Square), Ceremony at 1100 in the Gazebo on the Square, downtown.


May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony, at 1300 hours, 4108 US-42, Mansfield. Event by Oak Grove Memorial Park / Crawford County Memorial Gardens.



McArthur

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony, Elk Cemetery. A parade procession will form at the Vinton County Courthouse at 9:30 am and proceed to Elk Cemetery, north on Market Street. The ceremony will get underway around 10:00 am.



Mentor

May 31 - Mentor Municipal Cemetery. The City of Mentor will be hosting their annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Mentor Cemetery located at 6881 Hopkins Road on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 10:00 AM. The ceremony will be proceeded by a solemn parade which will step off at 9:30 AM from the Heinen’s parking lot located at 8850 Mentor Avenue. The 1-mile parade route will make its way on Mentor Avenue and then north on Hopkins Road. Representatives from the City of Mentor and other elected officials will be on hand along with members of AMVETS Post 40 and VFW Post 9295. The address will be given by Congressman Dave Joyce, (R-OH 14th District). The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Mentor Channel, as well as the City of Mentor YouTube channel and Facebook page.



Miamisburg

May 27 - “Silver Taps”, Thursday, May 27, 7:00 PM, Riverfront Park, in Historic Downtown Miamisburg Bring your own Lawn Chairs, Rain date to be announced.


May 29 - Rocky’s 5K Run/Walk for Freedom Saturday, May 29, Registration at Veterans Memorial Park, 8:00 AM or www.speedy-feet.com, fee $25.00.


May 31 - Memorial Day Services, Our Lady of Good Hope Cemetery – 8:45 AM, Hill Grove Cemetery – 9:15 AM, Highland Cemetery – 9:40 AM, Linden Avenue River Bridge – 10:30 AM. Parade will begin at Riverfront Park, travel down E. Linden Ave. to 1st Street, then to E. Central Ave. where it will continue to 5th Street and end at Veterans Memorial Park. Middleburg Heights

May 28 – 31 - Ohio Flags of Honor Traveling Memorial. The Ohio Flags of Honor Traveling Memorial honors the men and women of Ohio who have given their lives in service to their country. Specifically, those Fallen in the Wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and the War on Terrorism since September 11, 2001. May 28 - May 31, 2021. Location: City Hall, 15700 Bagley Rd, Middleburg Heights. Middletown

May 31 - Memorial Day Parade, Woodside Cemetery & Arboretum. Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Smith Park. Ceremony will begin at 11:30 at the conclusion of the parade in Woodside Cemetery.



Milford

May 31 - Memorial Day Parade, Lila Ave, Milford. The parade will begin at the Milford American Legion (111 Victor Stier Dr) at 0930 hours and travel down Main St and Lila Ave, ending at Greenlawn Cemetery. Catch the band anywhere along the parade route and join them for a brief ceremony in the cemetery immediately following the parade.


Northmont

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony, Northmont High School, 1000 hours.



North Union

May 31 - North Union Memorial Day Service at 1030 hours at Claibourne Cemetery. Remembering and Honoring all those who served in the Armed Forces. Those who gave their all during war or conflict. And those who passed away during peacetime or after serving honorably for our great country. Pataskala

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony. Please come and join the Mayor of Pataskala for a Memorial Day Ceremony starting at 10 am at the Pataskala Cemetery. Once completed the ceremony will continue at 11 am at Veterans Green.



Powell

May 31 - The Memorial Day Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 31 in downtown Powell. A special ceremony will be held immediately following the parade at the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial, 47 Hall Street. Participants and guests will be expected to wear a mask and practice safe distancing. Advanced registration for the parade and ceremony is encouraged here. The Olentangy Rotary Club will continue to host the annual Field of Flags display in Village Green Park throughout Memorial Day weekend – May 27-31. Nearly 100 flags will be placed in Village Green Park near the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial to honor our fallen heroes. New this year, the city is offering a free online Memorial Day activity pack. The experience pack feature fun activities for the entire family to commemorate and honor Memorial Day. Sandusky

May 31 - The Fremont American Legion will host the 2021 Memorial Day Parade. The morning begins with a ceremony at the Sandusky County Courthouse at 9 a.m. That is followed by the parade organizing in the 200 block of North Front Street. The parade starts promptly at 10 a.m. at the corner of Front and State streets. The procession goes south, following Front Street, to Rodger Young Park. NOTE: The route does not follow Tiffin Street this year. At the park, Past VFW Post 2947 Commander Terry Stanforth will be the speaker.


May 31 - Memorial Day Motorcycle Parade to the Sandusky Ohio Veterans Home. Meet at Mad River Harley-Davidson at noon. $5 per bike Registration: 12pm to 2pm. Kickstands up at 2pm. All proceeds benefit the Ohio Veterans Home.


Savannah (Village of)

May 31 - Savannah Memorial Day Parade. The parade will depart from the former Savannah School parking lot at approximately 11:00 am, led by this year’s Marshall, Bill Ramsay. The parade will conclude at the Savannah Cemetery.



Springboro

May 31 - Memorial Day Parade. Springboro’s annual Memorial Day parade, a tribute to the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our nation, is set for 2 p.m., Monday, May 31 on S. Main Street. The Honorable Judge Gary Loxley will serve as grand marshal. Immediately following the parade, a brief ceremony is scheduled at Wade Field. Due to COVID-19 protocols, in lieu of the traditional picnic in the school cafeteria, complimentary refreshments will be available in shaded areas surrounding the field. Organized by the Springboro Memorial Day committee, the event is made possible through the support of volunteers and businesses along with funding from Clearcreek Township and the City of Springboro.



Spring Grove

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony 1100 hours at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. The Sons of Union Veterans will be hosting a Memorial Day ceremony in the Civil War Section, Section 21. Please enter from Spring Grove Avenue and continue under the railroad arch for parking. Other Memorial Day weekend events will not be taking place this year. Limited, spaced out seating will be provided under tents. Please bring your own chair/blanket if possible.



Stockport

May 31 - Stockport Memorial Day Parade, OH-266, Stockport. One of Ohio's great river communities, Stockport, marks the occasion of Memorial Day with their annual Parade. This honors those who have gone on before us including our military and first responders. The parade will march up onto the bridge overlooking the Historic Lock # 6 and Dam of the Muskingum River. The service will begin at 12:30 PM featuring Butch Weber a Navy Veteran who will do the honors of throwing the wreath into the river. Hope to see you all on Memorial Day.



South Amherst

May 31 - Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 31. Line-up will start at 9:30 a.m. on Kenwood & Charles with a start time of 10 a.m. The route will proceed to Evergreen Cemetery with a short program. Current COVID guidelines will be followed.



Tiffin

May 31 - VA Services at 10am : A proclamation will be made celebrating the honorable veterans of Tiffin who made the ultimate sacrifice. A special remembrance will be made to those who passed within the past 23 months, June 1, 2019 through May 31, 2021. Names of those who sacrificed their lives will be read as a bell rings and a ribbon is placed on a wreath. Family members are welcome and encouraged to take part of this ceremony as your loved ones are remembered.


May 31 - Seneca County Museum open 11am-4pm: The Seneca County museum at 28 Clay St, will be offering a “sneak peek” to the public for the first time since closing under COVID restrictions in March of 2020.


May 31 - Frost Village open house 1pm-3pm; Andrew Kalnow’s “Frost Village”, an extensive project of historical building restoration as well as a high impact neighborhood revitalization project, will hold an open house of three of its houses under renovation. This will be a self-guided tour, with an information sheet handout and a proctor at each property. The Frost Village properties are situated within a National Register of Historic Places District, listed as "Fort Ball - Railroad Area Historic District" in the City of Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio.


May 31 - Music by the Cherry Bombs 2pm-4pm: Band sponsored by the Sergeant Anthony J. Paradiso “Support Our Troops” fund of The Tiffin Community Foundation. This fund supports U.S. military troops, veterans, and their families from tiffin and Seneca county, Ohio. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a great energetic, family friendly show featuring some patriotic favorites.



Toledo

May 31 - Memorial Day Mass, Toledo Catholic Cemeteries, 5725 Hill Ave, Toledo at 0900 hours.



West Chester

May 31 - Memorial Day Parade in Olde West Chester, 1000 hours. Memorial Day ceremonies in West Chester are organized each year by local veterans’ groups VFW Post 7696 and American Legion Post 681. On Monday, a morning Memorial Day Parade makes its way down Cincinnati-Dayton Road through the historic Olde West Chester business district to West Chester Cemetery (a.k.a. Brookside Cemetery) on West Chester Road for a special remembrance ceremony.



Willoughby

May 31 - Memorial Day Ceremony, Sharpe Ave. Cemetery. Join the American Legion Post #214 and the City of Willoughby as we honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the military for our country at 1000 hours. The ceremony will be held inside the Sharpe Ave Cemetery. There will not be a Memorial Day Parade this year, nor a ceremony at Willoughby Memorial Gardens.



Wyoming

May 31 - Memorial Day Remembrance. The service will begin at 11:00 am at the gazebo in the Village Green. All are invited! Seating will be available. Refreshments will be provided following the service. Come to the Village Green and join us in remembering and honoring our soldiers who died serving our country.


Zanesville

May 28 - Memorial Day Ruck/Walk, 3575 Maple Ave, Zanesville at 1500 hours. We will be starting at the Colony Square Mall and heading towards downtown. Everyone is welcome to participate. Please plan for the weather. Bring your own water source. We look forward to seeing everybody and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
