Delaware AMVETS Post 102/American Legion Post 115 gets grant from Home Depot for upgrades

The canteen at AMVETS Post 102/American Legion Post 115 is getting much needed upgrades thanks to a grant Home Depot.

Earlier this year Raymond B. Austin American Legion Post 115 was contacted by Ronald Haynie, then manager at the Lewis Center Home Depot, offering to work with the post to acquire facility upgrades which would benefit the post membership.

The local facility is shared between AMVETS 102 and American Legion 115, however, the post also serves as the meeting place for the local DAV, Marine Corps League and Military Order of the Purple Heart. Working with the trustees and officers of the post Ron Haynie was able to come up with useful upgrades to the canteen which will benefit the veterans groups who call the facility home.

The kitchen has a new commercial double oven with six burners and a flat top grill which can be made available to groups renting the facility for receptions and parties in addition to the scheduled meal service already offered by the post.

New commercial carpet is being installed in the canteen area to replace the worn floor covering currently in place to further enhance the aesthetics for patrons. The remaining unused funds from this grant will be used to purchase paint to complete the redecorating.

The post membership gratefully acknowledges the generosity of Home Depot in providing over $10,000 in these upgrades for the benefit of local veterans and their families.
