Delaware County VSO names new director
Brian Galligher, of Delaware, Ohio, is the new Executive Director of the Delaware County Veterans Service Office. Galligher started working for Delaware County in 2006 as the Delaware County Emergency Management Director then in 2013 became the Delaware County Emergency Communications/9-1-1 Director and in 2016 the Delaware County Safety & Security Director.
Galligher served as a nuclear reactor chemical and radiological specialist aboard fast-attack submarines from 1992-1998. Brian still serves today as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserve with twenty four years of service.
Galligher is taking command of an Information Warfare Reserve Unit in November based out of Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. He has deployed several times and has been awarded the following personal awards: the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, a Navy Commendation Medal, a Joint Service Achievement Medal, and six Navy Achievement Medals.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science from Trine (Tri-State) University and a Master’s of Science in Public Administration from Central Michigan University.
Galligher is married to his wife, Jennifer, of twenty seven years and has two daughters, Ashlynn and Meghan.
