AMVETS Department of Ohio Service Foundation and AMVETS Post 89 donated a all-weather golf cart worth more than $5,000 to the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center (VAACC).

The golf cart will be used to ferry veterans to the clinic from the patient parking lots at the facility, located off James Road on Columbus' East Side. It will join a cadre of other golf carts in the fleet at the VAACC.

The carts are busy ferrying patients from early in the morning to late in the afternoon seven days a week and operate in all kinds of weather. The newest addition has all-weather tires, a canvas roof and can be enclosed fully to shield patients from the wind, snow and rain. The cart comfotably seats four including the driver.

Volunteer drivers from the center's Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service will operate the cart.

"We really appreciate the gift," said Wendy Hepker, director of the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center. "We will put it to good use."
