In honor of America’s veterans, AMVETS and the FirstEnergy Corporation have launched a region spanning campaign to provide for veterans and their families in need.

Through donations from FirstEnergy employees and matching a donation from FirstEnergy Foundation, AMVETS is dispersing these funds to the local community, providing them the resources to fund impactful food donation events.

These events will take place between the week leading up to and following Veterans Day and build on a promise the organization has upheld since its inception: enhancing and safeguarding the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve their quality of life.

"This will certainly allow us to make a bigger impact in our communities…which is much needed during these times especially with the holidays approaching,” said AMVETS National Programs Director Bunmi Moses. “This event presents a great opportunity for our members to continue the good they do in our communities, while providing more opportunities for AMVETS to foster relationships with numerous partners who are eager to create similar campaigns.”

AMVETS began a partnership with FirstEnergy in June, with the idea being that through like-minded philosophy and a shared appreciation for veterans and our military, significant impacts could be made nationwide on behalf of America’s heroes.

“AMVETS is working closely with FirstEnergy to optimize efforts to serve veterans and their communities,” said AMVETS National Commander Jan Brown. “I cannot express enough how much I’m looking forward to these food donations and experiencing the difference we’ll be making in the lives of the individuals and families we’re helping.”
