
State
Bowling Rules
- Any AMVET, Auxiliary member,
Sons of AMVETS (or Junior AMVET if facilities are available) member in good
standing that are qualified under the rules of ABC or WIBC (Junior Bowling
Congress when applicable), are eligible to enter and participate in the annual
State AMVETS Tournament. Female AMVETS members may bowl with either the
Auxiliary or with the AMVETS, with the understanding if they bowl with an
AMVET, they must adhere to their rules, applicable to AMVETS averages.
- This tournament will be run
in strict compliance with the rules set forth by The United States Bowling
Congress in conjunction with the AMVETS State Bowling Committee.
- The tournament shall be run
on a 100% handicap basis, with all prizes being paid in handicap division. All
events will be paid in handicap division only. A sponsor trophy will be
awarded to the first place team winners. No individual trophies will be
awarded. Prize ratio is 1 in 10.
- This shall be a USBC moral
sanction tournament, USBC sanctions are not required, however those
individuals not sanctioned, may purchase, if they wish, unattached USBC
membership cards at the registration office.
- Entry average shall be:
highest average, 21 games or more for last season in league play or highest
average of 21 games or more in current season if it is 10 pins higher by
January 1, of the current tournament year. If you did not bowl in the previous
season, but are currently bowling, use current average of January 1 of current
season as of 21 games or more. All averages used must be sanctioned league
averages. AMVETS or Son’s of AMVETS bowlers with no average will enter with a
179 average and Auxiliary bowlers with no average will enter with a 150
average. Each entry will receive a handicap of 80% of 210 scratch.
- No fees shall be refunded
after each tournament entry closing date.
- A team captain must be
designated on each entry blank along with his or her address and phone number
and he/she will be responsible for all information and tournament schedules
passed to the team members. They shall be responsible for the team being
notified and ready to bowl in the scheduled events. Make sure you fill in your
phone numbers and zip codes on entry forms.
- Check in time shall be 30
minutes prior to scheduled times. If changes are to be made, team captain
(only) please check in 1 hour before scheduled times. Team captain only will
check in the entire team (when all members are present for team event). For
doubles & singles, each bowler shall check in, as membership cards & USBC
cards will be checked.
- If you have an individual
change, you must present their current membership card and USBC sanction card
if they are sanctioned.
- The host post will attempt
to have bowlers available if extra bowlers are needed. This is not a
guarantee.
- Late bowlers, provided the 5th
frame has not started, may bowl and scores will count from the frame he/she
began.
- Tournament managers shall
post, prior to the opening of the tournament, a copy of the official prize
list in the establishment where the tournament event will be conducted,
provided the prize list is approved by the Bowling Committee.
- The entire prize fee will be
returned to participants in the event for which the entry was made, on a ratio
listed on the application.
- Not more than three (3)
players can compete together more than once in the five (5) person team. When
a bowler is a member of more than one (5) person team in the tournament,
his/her first score shall count for all events.
- Bowlers may participate in
more than one doubles events, but not with same partner. However, his/her
first score shall count for all events.
- A bowler may participate
more than once in singles event, however his/her first score shall count for
all events. A bowler, so doing, may cash only once in the prize listing for
position standings.
- USBC rule 319-E will apply
- USBC rule 319-A-3 will
apply.
- USBC rule 319-D will apply.
- Claims of error must be made
within 24 hours after bowling. Corrections of scores can only be made by the
tournament director.
- A team must pay for all
spots on entries turned in. If you need a bowler to make up a team or doubles,
you must pay for the spot. All spots must be paid for.
- To be eligible to host a
state event, you must provide a minimum of 32 lanes. Each district can
decide how many lanes are minimum to host their events.
- There is a State Bowling
Tournament Director along with a state bowling committee made up of five (5)
additional members based on the bylaws of the bowling committee constitution.
