Giving Tuesday is Nov. 27, 2018


After the Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes comes Giving Tuesday. The day is set aside as a global day of giving. Among the millions of nonprofits out there many that benefit Veterans. Here is a short list of veterans charities you can donate to in Ohio.

AMVETS Department of Ohio Service Foundation

American Veterans has been helping veterans across the United States since 1944. They offer a legislative team specifically designed to watch legislation and protect veterans' rights. AMVETS also offers Service Officers free to veterans who are seeking help through the VA. They also help with other charities, job searches, training, civilian transitioning, and much more. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is the only place where the stories of our veterans, their families and the Fallen – across all branches of service and all eras of conflict – will be told together. NVMM will bridge historical events to current concerns and strengthen understanding and respect between veterans and civilians. This cultural institution will stand as a place of inspiration for all visitors to come together as one people with a common bond and a shared pride in our veterans. The NVMM is a nonprofit organization and is located in Columbus, Ohio. You can donate to help offset the costs of operation here.

Save A Warrior​™ (SAW™) is a meaningful conversation about the nature of human experience. A nationally-recognized program, we offer novel, judgment-free solutions to returning Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, and First Responders with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). Their Ohio retreat center is located near Newark. https://saveawarrior.org/

America's Freedom Lodge. Their purpose is to show appreciation to the men and women who have served the U.S. by provide a recreational program designed to accommodate those who sacrificed much and have been disabled or paralyzed. Disabled American Veterans - assists disabled veterans, their families, and their partners. They do a lot of charity for those who have sacrificed for our country. They have several local chapters in Ohio. If you would like to donate to Disabled American Veterans, click here.

Toys for Tots have a mission to collect new, unwrapped toys before and during the holidays to distribute these toys during Christmas to less fortunate children in the community. If you would like to donate to Toys for Tots, click here.

The USO offers a variety of programs and services designed specifically to lift spirtis and strengthen resiliency to transition and deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors, and families of the fallen. If you would like to donate to USO, click here.

M.A.S.H. Pantry & Resource Center is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit. We provide food, clothing, toiletries & hygiene products, as well as emotional and physical support and resources to Military Personnel and Veterans throughout the Columbus Metropolitan Area. http://www.mashpantry.org/

Armed Servies YMCA fills the highest priority gaps with low to no-cost programs and services including childcare, hospital assistance, counseling, emergency food and clothing, education, and youth and teen programs. If you would like to donate to ASYMCA, click here.

Heroes in Action Military Outreach in Toledo is committed to supporting service members and veterans through communication and care packages, as well as encouraging the families with personal needs here at home through housing and auto repairs, food baskets, newborn baskets, and blankets for the wounded. http://www.heroesinaction.org/

Veterans Matter is an innovative grass-roots movement started by regular Americans who care about veterans, to pitch in to fight (and win) the battle to end veteran homelessness for thousands of veterans, one at a time. http://veteransmatter.org/


Ohio Veterans Outdoors is a 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit organization, OVO provides outdoor experiences and education to combat-wounded, ill, and injured veterans of the US armed forces. https://www.ohvetsoutdoors.org/

Fisher House Foundation
