2017 Mid-Winter Conference

The 2017 Mid-Winter Conference in Columbus, Ohio from Feb. 9-12 was a great success. We hosted the Legislative Awards Breakfast, Commander's and President's Testimonial Dinner, three guest speakers about different veteran driven organizations, many committee meetings, two Business Sessions, our famous hospitality rooms, and much more.

To anyone who missed the Conference, please see these links below for the minutes to the Finance Committee Meeting, SEC Committee Meeting, Service Foundation Meeting, and our Business Sessions.

Important motions and decisions that our members made:

  • Regis Grimm was elected as a 3-year term member for the Service Foundation.

  • Funds were approved to replace a much needed cooling tower in Department Headquarters.

  • A committee was created and funded to start a membership drive to actively recruit new members.

  • One member spoke out about her project, Save the 22, and read more at her program here.

  • We have several members interested in running on both National and State level in the upcoming elections.

  • One member spoke about a training workshop called the Warrior Transition Workshop sponsored by AMVETS.

  • Donations were given to the Commander for his project with the America's Freedom Lodge.

  • Important decisions are being made at state Legislative level that could affect the AMVETS organization funding. Pay attention and call your local Legislator.

Our guest speakers for the Mid-Winter Conference included Cindy Schmitt from CSW Farms, AMVETS member Kim Williams with Save the 22, and Michael Metzger from Team Rubicon. To learn more about what they do for Veterans and the general public, click on their names below.

Here are pictures from the Mid-Winter Conference. We will see you next at the State Convention in June, where we will have tax training for filing 990's, QuickBooks accounting training, Marketing Training, Elections, and more!
